The Relay For Life by: Wayne Smith

As we look down and see all of you talking and thinking about the ones that have gone, we see that the earth angel has made his mark.

In his way he has made the trees of life so that all of you can see and tell the stories of the loved ones that have been taken by cancer. The wishes from the angels are that we all help each other often and that we need each other to better the lives of all of you.

As the keeper of the tree of life has left the sign. The sign is he leaves the candle on all night in the trees of life to tell that we can be with you, with the tears from heaven. Now with the trees of life we know that we or you can come and talk with the angels at anytime. There are lots of earth angels with you, but some are there for all. We miss you.

*The tree of life is in down town Truro off Young and Prince Street.

My Angels by: Wayne Smith

As the earth angel works his way in life helping where he is needed. He also needs help. As the keeper of the tree of life he left the sign, the sign was when he needs the help from his angels he leaves the candle on all night in the tree of life so we can tell we are needed.

His need was to wash away the misfortune of others with the tears from heaven. As the tears fell the keeper asked not all at one time so that the misfortune could flow away slowly.

As the keeper stopped the flow of tears so he could then repair the flow of life. He opened the flood gate like the gates to heaven, so the last of her misfortune could be washed away.

We are all looking down on you, all the earth angels and we are so happy to have helped in any way.

We all miss you.

My Mother by: Margaret Hall

My mom had survived bowel cancer for 22 years having surgery when she had been 56 years of age. She was a great lover of animals, cats, dogs, birds, etc. When she was 78 years of age, she started again to not feel well and soon discovered her cancer had spread to most of her organs. I always stopped at her home at 5 pm to see how supper was going and she would call each night at 10 pm. Then one night when she called she did not want to talk with me. She wanted my husband, Monty, to go down to her house and see her if he could right away. So off he went. I waited and waited and he soon returned. I asked what did mom want. He paused then said "your mom said she is really not feeling well and feels she will only live maybe a few months as the pain was getting worse and worse." "Monty take care of my animals, Harry the dog and the two cats, Ginger and Flurry. When I feel that I can no longer care for them and be fair to them." Monty said yes as he loves animals and we laughted at mom as she knew I don't really have a great love for animals. When Harry got to heavy on the blankets on her bed, he moved up to our house and when she could not open the doors for the cats to go out doors, Ginger and Flurry moved up.

Mother passed away three months later and we often say "It has been five years since mom's passing but she is looking down from heaven with a great big smile at her animals happily playing and chasing each other on our lawn.
