From the East coast to the west coast he will ride-
Raising money for cancer with God by his side

No matter the weather on his back,
He is determined to help those with cancer fight back

 His strength comes from within
and we admire his discipline

Keep him safe Dear Lord as he cycles his best
and help us realize we have all been blessed

Thank you Gary for all you do
Please know that we are all there for you!

When you return home with your giant grin
We hope and pray that for other's cancer won't win!

 honest to GOD    " I won't tell a soul"

Riding for faith and hope with attitude East to West!  Okay "I agree" so lets give 100% passion at giving back.  At age 70 $70,000 no matter how small or large it is important for cancer research.
Just as it ended in 2010 in St. John's, Newfoundland, we will begin a new journey by dipping the bike tire in the Atlantic Ocean, June 13, 2015, going from East to West to raise awareness for cancer.
It could happen to anyone!  I am no different than anyone else.
Giving a voice, making awareness, sharing stories!
Here I go again, five years later, biking for cancer.  It is important that we express ourselves and our strengths.
"It's all about smiling"

Thyroid Story

"New" Thyroid Oncology Clinic(ITOC) patient and family information centre launched December 7, 2012. Gary Jones, a Thyroid cancer survivor from Halifax, inspired patients across the country when he cycled solo from Victoria BC to Halifax, and then to Newfoundland, to raise funds for Thyroid Cancer Awareness and Research at the QE11. Gary's donatin is helping to create a new Patient Information Centre to help Thyroid patients and their families better understand their diagnosis. The centre will include an online information tool that patients can access at the clinic and from home to learn about their disease and treatment options. An opening ceremony, unveiling and a dedication to Gary was held on December 7, 2012 at the QE11. Thanks to Gary Jones for his commitment to making a difference. Among other benefits, this project supported by the funds Gary raised, will greatly increase Thyroid Cancer Awareness and provide a resource for patient education.

CHEQUE PRESENTATION - OCT 16, 2010

Trinity United held its Trucker Style Breakfast Oct 16th.  Dad (Gary) presented cheques to the Canadian Cancer Society and QEII Foundation, Thyroid Oncology in the amount of $16,816.15 each.  The Hall was full (standing room only) and dad picked the church to present the cheques to say a BIG THANK YOU to the community for their support during his journey across Canada.

April and I surprised Dad with our own special presentation.

We have a little surprise for dad. He has given out butterflies all across Canada to raise awareness for thyroid cancer. We have one that we would like to give dad to remember his journey across Canada. His journey across Canada was met with quite a few struggles with a lot of rains, high winds, and even snow. He continued to cycle daily and even though he enjoyed the beautiful countryside, this was not a holiday. He was out there to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

We know that dad was overwhelmed with the task he was taking on, but thinking about all of the people who are struggling and fighting for their lives, he put his own fears aside and went out there and cycled everyday no matter the weather. He met new people and brought communities together and it was an inspiration to us to read the comments on the blog from the people who lives dad touched and became a part of. How you left a mark on a lot of people and you were always smiling.
Our dad always says that he is made of steel but as we found out on his last day of his journey that steel does bend and bleed, but regardless of his injuries he continued and finished stronger because we believe that his aches and pains were like he was carrying everyone's pain and struggles with him to the end of his journey.

We love you and are soooo proud of you dad, you have always been our hero but you are a hero to everyone else as well.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED THE JONES FAMILY WITH PRAYERS TO KEEP DAD SAFE ON HIS JOURNEY.  AS WELL, WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO EXPRESS THE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HOSTED DAD ON HIS JOURNEY ACROSS CANADA!
